E.   The director shall revoke the permit or permit to drive as well as any type of nonresident operating privilege of the person so convicted.

Misdemeanor charges are reserved for situations “where the mishap does not result in fantastic bodily harm“.  If the situation does include “great bodily harm” it can lead to a fourth degree felony with a charge of as much as “eighteen months imprisonment.”.  If it can further be proven that a accused “knowingly” failed to stay at the scene the charges can be upgraded to a third degree felony with penalties increasing as much as three years of imprisonment.
